READ THIS BEFORE BUYING RAM (DO NOT BUY Crucial Ballistic Sport RAM)

DO NOT BUY bls2kit8g3d1609ds1s00 with Shuttle XPC Cube SH81R4 (https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-Pin2list BLS2KIT8G1DSBEE0W09/DSBEE0W09/ GEE0W09DS1 currently recommends a "stored pair" and it just doesn't work. The Crucial Ballistic Sport Bar with the part number above appears to work, it even tests with memtest with no problems. Try going into the BIOS. It was the strangest thing I've ever seen. When I went through the BIOS menu to set up the system, there was video corruption and finally BIOS…

Excellent Powerful miniature computer

Meets the standards I expect from simple shuttle systems. I've had three so far since the mid 2000's. I find this one better for my purposes than their new design that doesn't support an optical drive. Cooling is good, but that may be because newer processors, while faster, emit much less heat. My previous unit had a 135W TDP processor and ran 24/7 under full load, which made cooling a minor issue. The new style is designed for TDPs of up to 95W, while the excellent Intel i7-6700 is only 65W…

WARNING: Shuttle DOES NOT offer after sales service or replacement parts

I bought one of these in June 2016 and gave it 5 stars. This motherboard was wrecked in a flash boot failure that triggered the flash when I had NO video and had no idea what was going on. The BIOS did not initialize the graphics card. As a result, I turned off the power after about 30 seconds to see what happened. This step killed the BIOS EEPROM and the motherboard. I've been buying these boxes for over a decade and have had great support from Shuttle in the past. NOT NOW. I spent two weeks…

Some of my PCs are heavily built, but I needed a fairly fast, full-stock workstation to work with. I have built many Shuttle XPCs (older models) in the past but decided the Shuttle XPC Cube SH310R4V2 would work for my purposes. My build consisted of i7-8700K, M.2 Samsung 970 EVO NVMe. and 2 x 16GB Corsair Vengeance LPX PC4-21300 (C16). To insert the CPU, the heat pipe plate has to be removed, for which the heat sink, the fan and the cover mounted on the back have to be unscrewed. There is some…

Great little box, huge potential!

I built mine with an i7 4790, 16GB RAM, 256GB Samsung EVO 850 mSATA and a GeForce 1060 3GB. Ultra-fast performance, total silence when you're not doing resource-intensive things like full-screen gaming. Installation was easy, if a little tight, but that's to be expected from a toaster-sized case. I also upgraded the PSU to 500W to keep the 1060 and i7 happy and full. Coming from a long history of great desktop PC cases, this is a nice change of pace that doesn't scream "I HAVE A COMPUTER!" when

A well-built computer is an effective size for its capabilities.

I have known this company for many years when I first had the opportunity to purchase one of their systems (I usually build mine from components). I'm very impressed with this system, especially the small footprint and volume it occupies compared to my other large (and heavy) systems. Features, fit and finish are first class. I will definitely consider buying from them in the future.

So happy they still make these

This is my 5th shuttle barebone in 20 years. I love these little things. I work in the printing industry and I really like that they are lightweight and portable. Sometimes I have to go to work and most of the time the laptop just can't handle it. This kid with an i9 9900K can handle anything I throw at him. I've never broken one and I replace them because I like staying up to date with processors and chipsets. I like that it has M.2. This frees the drive bay for something else and allows for…

I am writing this review using it.

This is an older model (well my original was 4 years old). When she died, I was faced with the prospect of finding one of these (NOS) or buying a newer model, which would also mean buying a new processor and maybe memory, and then battling Windows when it found that it was ran the other equipment. Revain had this one for sale. From a seller in Italy. The price was right and shipping was free (Prime). For some reason (COVID?) the shipping (via FedEx) took almost two weeks. It then took three…
