Very happy with spare parts

If you look online you will see that this item gets good reviews. I put this on my 2008 Nissan Sentra SE-R Spec V (B16). That's the only thing I did to my car. I've noticed that it's a bit quicker at lower RPMs. Sounds more guttural than usual. It took about an hour and a half to install, but there was nothing complicated about it. I found a GREAT guide (with pictures) on this on "AllSentra" (google it) in the "How to" section. Nice thing is that the B16 Spec V (and possibly other models) has a stock air duct that leads out the front of the car and leads first to the stock air filter but hooks under the heat shield of that intake. This helps cool the car better by channeling cold air from the outside, rather than just drawing in moderately warm air from the engine. A friend of mine warned me that if you clean and re-lube this filter, be careful not to oil it or it could leak onto your MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) which could be costly repairs ($600) . He also advised me that the filter needs to be cleaned when it turns blackish (rather than orange-red). Some say clean it every 10,000 miles, others say it's fine for 30,000, but I guess it depends on your area. Just control it when you control your oil. Others also had concerns about installing them because it was said they would void the manufacturer's warranty. I've looked at it and to my knowledge it doesn't invalidate it. They can refuse to work on your car (under warranty) if it can be proven that they caused it. There is a law enforced by the government that you cannot void warranty work on this basis. I don't know the exact wording, but I'll look it up. Somewhere on the K&N website. The only downside was that it whistles briefly (2 seconds) when I step on the gas. It's not loud, but if you listen you can hear it. Maybe it just happened to me because there's a small gap between the two vents, a crack or something, so I don't think it's the air intake's fault. In general a good product. Very easy for beginners.
