Review on ๐Ÿš€ AMD Athlon 3000G 2-Core Unlocked Desktop Processor with Radeon Graphics and 4-Thread Support by Guled Probz

Revainrating 5 out of 5

You can't argue with $50.

This is not a Ryzen 3950x or 10th Gen Core i9, this is a $50 APU (CPU + iGPU) and if you keep that in mind you will see that it is is a great processor for budget builds. My kids needed a powerful virtual classroom desktop that works with Zoom/Teams/Google Meet when using school apps. Combined with a cheap motherboard with a B450 chipset, a 256GB NVMe drive and 8GB DDR4-2400 RAM, I have a very cheap machine that can score 2200+ in Cinebench R23. Most importantly, this CPU with 4 logical processors (threads) is able to handle most general purpose workloads with smooth response. It's very fast for such a cheap part thanks to solid single current and SMT performance. In addition, the Vega 3 GPU is surprisingly also suitable for light tasks. This GPU runs games like Minecraft (with anti-aliasing, long drag distances, etc.) at 1080p at fully playable frame rates (which Intel's cheapest iGPUs still struggle with). For WebGL applications, Google Earth, etc., the Vega 3 iGPU does the job perfectly. Unless you're running Cyberpunk 2077 on this hardware, you'll likely be pleasantly surprised. Finally, being an AM4 part, if you invest in a decent B450 motherboard you will have future upgrade options along with the ability to overclock as the 3000g multiplier is unlocked. If you need more computing power in the future, there is a wide upgrade path for Socket AM4.
