Review on 🔍 Azoo Mignon 150 Power Filter: Optimal Choice for Filter Efficiency by Jessica Sanders

Update: After a few days of operation the Azoo seems to be getting louder. The vibrations seem to be picked up and amplified by my tank's frame and light. Turned it off for a few seconds to compare to 3 other filters in the room and it was like turning off the TV. The room has become much quieter. Azoo is still within the "normal" noise level for a HOB, but if you're looking for something quieter than the Aquaclear, Biowheel, etc. this isn't it. I either find a use for it in a room with a lot of background noise to mask the sound, or give it to a hobbyist whose needs suit him better. The construction is on par with well-known brands such as Aquaclear. Easy to assemble and relatively quiet. Adjustable flow. A pre-filter sponge is included for the inlet. Less Good: In my opinion, this shouldn't be advertised as filtering anything larger than 5 gallons, and I feel like even that is a stretch. The flow rate just isn't enough to be the sole filter for anything larger. The media basket is quite roomy considering the overall size of the filter, but it's still small and designed for use with vertical cartridges. Over time, cartridges have become more expensive than refillable media like sponges and ceramic rings. The inlet pipe is also short. Again, decent for most 5 gallons, but could be longer for 10 gallons. In addition, the motor of this filter, while quiet, is not silent, and the cover makes this worse with vibration. Depending on your noise tolerance, it may be too loud for a desktop tank that you spend a lot of time in close proximity to (e.g. if it's on your bedside table or on a desk where you work several hours a day). . Conclusion. : This is a great little filter, but don't expect perfection! There are quieter filters such as the ZooMed Canister Nano Filter, Fluval Canister Filter and Back Filter in Lifegard Aquatics Nano Aquatics. But when it comes to HOB filters for small aquariums, you'll be hard pressed to find anything quite like the Azoo Mignon 150 at this price point.
