Ready to use. The assembly is a bit more difficult than the competitor, but this is due to the small spikes on the underside. They help hold the mat firmly in place, so they come in handy once installed. Virtually odorless, which is rare for large plastic items these days. I attribute this to the fact that they are made in the USA as things usually have a chemical smell from China. They were cut exactly to my car, the edges were clean with no manufacturing defects. They are not a glamorous item or a beauty upgrade over the factory floor mats that were good. But I definitely have a feeling they will keep my kids off the carpets and they are very easy to mop or vacuum. I installed a competitor in my wife's minivan and after seeing it I would go back and buy Husky liners instead.
