You wear out before this masher
I have tried many potato mashers. Most of them were painful both to use and to clean. Many leaned forward. Some burst. Some are rusty. I tested this Rösle tamper and it worked great. The open grip fits larger hands and is more ergonomic than horizontal grips. You can also relax your grip as you work, as the flange ensures your hand doesn't slip off the tool while you're pounding. It's relatively easy to clean, especially if you rinse it well right after mashing it in. I have already bought a second crush as a gift for a friend.
