Filters came in old dirty boxes and were dirty themselves
Aprilaire 501 filters are great filters. I've been using them for 20 years now. But these four, purchased from Revain as a set of four, were a real rip off. The four filter boxes in the shipping carton were dirty and old looking. Two were open on one side. The filters themselves were coated on the ends and partially on the bottom with a thick black dusty substance that looked like carbon powder. Nobody would ever use one of those dirty filters. I didn't open the other two boxes, which were still taped shut.
