Review on πŸ’₯ Monroe 58551 Shock Absorber Coil Spring Assembly for Enhanced Performance by Sam Bauer

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Monroe 58551 for a 1970 Camaro rear axle. Great lift and improved handling. Thanks for the fast shipping and the low price.

Bought for my 1970 Camaro. It seems several Camaro owners use this site to find parts. I wanted to do a body lift on the rear and improve handling. First, fast shipping (very fast). I have always bought Monroes, they are excellent shock absorbers. Use some muscle to get it in place (you'll need help or a crowbar). I have a Z28 suspension (stock) that is two years old. The ride height measured in the wheel well is 26-1/2 all around. Those shocks gave me a 26-1/4 front and 27-1/4 rear (with a spare tire and dealer boot). With the spare tire removed, I was 27-3/4. Expect 1-1/4 to 1-3/4 body travel with these springs/dampers. Far better than air shock absorbers. Really improved the look of the car, easily cleans 255/75R15 tires. Very satisfied. Has been working as a service technician in the automotive industry for 20 years and knows about quality and customer service. Price? Beat local parts stores for $15. Quiet, less roll in turns, works well with traction bars - what more could you ask for. A little something. It's always good to have double nuts on your shocks or use Blue Lock. Put some extra nuts in a bag for nuts like me.

Pros
  • Handy item
Cons
  • So far so good
