Description of 💥 Monroe 58551 Shock Absorber Coil Spring Assembly for Enhanced Performance

REDUCES SAG UNDER LOAD -- Ideal for occasionally hauling or towing varying loads; heavy gauge, calibrated coil spring reduces sag when loaded up to 1,200 lbs. (capacity limited by suspension, tires and transmission; see owner's manual). EXCEPTIONAL HANDLING -- Tuned specifically for each application, full-displaced valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide ride consistency. CONSISTENT RIDE -- OE all-weather fluid contains special modifiers to handle extreme temperatures and PTFE-banded piston helps reduce friction between the piston and pressure tube to enhance responsiveness to changing road surfaces. LONGER SERVICE LIFE -- Self-lubricating fluid seal retains gas and reduces excessive friction against the piston rod to help reduce premature wear while heavy-duty nitrocarburized rod delivers long life. IMPROVES PERFORMANCE -- Nitrogen gas-charge maintains tire-to-road contact for improved ride and handling by reducing aeration and shock fade.

I am very happy with these dampers

I am very happy with these dampers. I installed them on my '53 Ford Victoria as a modification of the originals. Replaced the top cross pin with a straight pin (universal kit) and installed it through the cross member.

Pros
  • Wide Range
Cons
  • Neutral

Fits 1979 Camaro

Installed both pairs on a 1979 Camaro. My only concern was the clearance between the axle bumper and the part itself. Having fitted and pushed the car and finally driven it I can confirm that they work for the car. I also added about an inch and a half. Of course without pushing back the upheavals of the 1980s.

Pros
  • A Dream Come True
Cons
  • Pretty Good

Love them so much!: Replacement parts

I bought these for my 1979 Pontiac Firebird. Even with my expense at O'reals auto parts they cost an extra $20. My rear springs are pretty bad so I wanted to use air shocks to be specific but figured that would be the best option. It doesn't replace new springs, but it makes a big difference. The ride is very good and still rides great. It doesn't matter if I have 4 people in the car.

Pros
  • Excellent construction
Cons
  • Communication with seller

Good quality shock absorbers

These shock absorbers helped me to cope with the fitting of some new unknown brand springs on my 78 T/A and I didn't want to change the back panels. These dampers greatly improved the ride quality and handling, the suspension stopped flexing and the ride was very smooth and quiet. Installation was a bit tricky as the top of the shock is wider. Install a top bolt and then move the shock forward/backward to bring the other bolt in before installing the bottom one. Also make sure you have max…

They really like it! Best Shocks, Struts & Suspension

I bought these for my 1979 Pontiac Firebird. Even with my expense at O'reals Auto Parts they cost $20 more. Very impressive performance

I installed these load matched shocks with an optional stiff leaf spring on a late 70's Camaro (350V8, TH350). I'm very impressed with the performance these little dampers bring to an insatiable and powerful muscle car. The specially tuned cornering characteristics are amazing, the dampers almost eliminate wheel bounce and allow extreme cornering without loss of traction. They are designed to adapt to a new load on the vehicle, but work great when adapting to an applied force, e.g. B. when…

Pros
  • Nice packaging
Cons
  • Can't remember

Bought for my 1970 Camaro. It seems several Camaro owners use this site to find parts. I wanted to do a body lift on the rear and improve handling. First, fast shipping (very fast). I have always bought Monroes, they are excellent shock absorbers. Use some muscle to get it in place (you'll need help or a crowbar). I have a Z28 suspension (stock) that is two years old. The ride height measured in the wheel well is 26-1/2 all around. Those shocks gave me a 26-1/4 front and 27-1/4 rear (with a…
