I bought these to smooth out some of the welds in the metal sculptures I make to help get into hard to reach places, that an angle grinder cannot achieve. My Grinder is a well known standard name and was easy to work with. They did the job of sanding away rough spots and blemishes where my MIG setup had left some excess metal. If you are trying to get a smooth/nice finish on (carbon) steel, be aware that they leave very visible scratches as they work. As a result, I had to do some polishing in those tight spots using small Dremel sanding drums and sanding wheels. They are excellent for a variety of projects where a smooth surface is not as important or where a finish is applied to the product to cover scratches. I think I'll just try the Dremel's coarse sanding drum when I need to sand the steel in those small spots on my sculptures.
