This is a 1/2 inch tape measure so I wasn't expecting too much. The markings are clear and easy to read, the case is thin plastic (how well it stands the test of time depends on the gorilla using it), its weakest point is the very thin tape and flimsy latch at the end - yes , It is as described but a bit thin. Probably good for light casual use. If you're looking for a cheap tree diameter tape measure, or a shop that has you measuring pipes all day, it probably won't last long and you should probably open your wallet a little more and buy a tape measure that's end-use and environmentally friendly environment is determined. All in all, the tape will satisfy my infrequent need to measure pipes. Would I buy it again? Eventually - it depends on how long that band lasts and what ultimately causes it to break.
