On the one hand there is no central round piece of metal - that's how they are made.
I went to Lowes and found that even the same discs I ordered here were missing the center round piece of metal and the disc just spins too thin to catch on the nut. I figured it just needed one big metal washer and while I was there at Lowes I grabbed a large metal washer, 2 in a pack of 7/8 x 1-3/8 x 18 ga. It's in one of Lowe's special equipment boxes. Hillman #882396. Well, the hole is a little big, but I used it anyway and unscrewed the nut. It worked! I easily cut all my metal pipes!
