Durable - Abrasive Wheels & Discs

I have been using a cutting wheel for about 6 months. Cut. It's really long. I recently bought a 14 inch cut-off saw, but I still enjoy using this blade. It makes small cuts easier and faster.

Pros
  • Great for outdoor activities
Cons
  • I will add later

Good all-purpose wheel

This all-purpose wheel shows very good cutting and grinding results. However, it will not function like a thinner cut-off wheel. If you only want to do cutting work, it is better to use a special cutting disc. If you only need one wheel for most jobs, choose this one.

Pros
  • Consistent test results
Cons
  • Negative impression

Paper label on the front of the top pane.

The paper label on the front of the top disc under the shrink tubing says Type 27 will have a raised center. What I received was a stack of flat Type 1s. The model numbers on the disc don't even match the number on the piece of paper. I wonder if this is a fake from China?

Pros
  • Lots of good vibes
Cons
  • Lots of stuff

Great buy for tiles.

I am doing a shower tile project and have a wet saw to cut large straight pieces of 12 x 24 travertine tile. I used some water on it when I pressed it, but overall I'll definitely have one of these in my tile toolbox from now on. I trust DeWalt and this grinding wheel works great.

Pros
  • Good product for the price
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging

I love these things!

If you're used to HF's incredibly cheap (bidirectional) cutting discs, you'll be surprised. They are much more break-resistant than cheap ones; This is important for you if you are tired of being hit by cheap wheels flying sideways. They're also twice as thick, but still work better as a cut-off than as a grinder. They are slightly convex, which together with the increased thickness makes the wheel stiffer. They're pretty rough, so good luck smoothing out cuts on the fly.

Pros
  • Handsfree
Cons
  • Not sure

work well, usually at a fair price

These work well. I used them occasionally by mistake until they were only two or three inches wide and giving me no problems. On some other brands I've used, the abrasive does not extend from the perimeter to the center of the wheel, but ends after about an inch. Not so with these. The ones that arrived had a slight offset - more like a grinding wheel than a completely flat cut-off wheel. Angle grinders are dangerous and I'm much better off using Dewalt discs than the off-brand version.

Pros
  • Stylish and modern design
Cons
  • So-so

They don't explode.

For goodness sake, only DeWalt cuts blades. The rest of the accessories aren't that critical, but when a cut blade explodes, it sucks. This is actually the only time I insist on buying branded stuff, when it comes to a real angle grinder I just buy some dumb cheap branded stuff lol. Although none of them exploded. They break, tear and tear at the edges. Only if you clearly use them for other purposes. but the fiberglass running through them keeps them from exploding on you, which will really…

Pros
  • Best in its niche
Cons
  • Almost never

Works very well, won't break, good price

I used these to cut a galvanized metal cage (rather thin metal) around a 275 gallon IBC container and I was done. very good. I love that I can even cut pieces about 1/32 inch thick if my first cut isn't perfect. I'd love to see a better way to replace these wheels when one of them wears out, but that's a minor inconvenience to the whole system, not the quality of this item. The wheels themselves work great and I haven't had a single chip or chip on any of my current or previous projects. It's…

Pros
  • Abrasives & Finishes
Cons
  • Big and Bulky

I went to Lowes and found that even the same discs I ordered here were missing the center round piece of metal and the disc just spins too thin to catch on the nut. I figured it just needed one big metal washer and while I was there at Lowes I grabbed a large metal washer, 2 in a pack of 7/8 x 1-3/8 x 18 ga. It's in one of Lowe's special equipment boxes. Hillman #882396. Well, the hole is a little big, but I used it anyway and unscrewed the nut. It worked! I easily cut all my metal pipes!

Pros
  • grinding discs and grinding discs
Cons
  • old

Terrible to cut!

I bought these discs a few weeks ago and only tried them yesterday so I can't return them but I definitely would because they are rubbish. I build the frame of the canopy out of .093" thick 1.5" square steel tubing. The first blade I tried stuck halfway through the first cut and created melt lines along the cut telling me the blade is overheating and melting instead of cutting steel. I dropped the Dewalt disc and put in another branded disc I had on my desk and it worked great. I have used…

Pros
  • cut-off discs
Cons
  • boring packaging
