Review on TRENDnet 2 Port Switch Cable TK 205K by Matt Kucrud

Revainrating 1 out of 5

Simple external components

I recently upgraded my system from a very old Win98 PC to a more modern one. I found that I don't have enough desktop space for both machines to live together while doing a lossless migration with an old car. In my opinion, this works best with a KVM switch. I didn't plan on keeping both machines active and didn't need them after the switch, so it was nice to find this little device at an almost affordable price. After looking at as many Revain reviews as possible before purchasing, I once again felt confident that this model would do the job. And it didn't disappoint. I also read that some advanced wireless keyboard and mouse features that I use were not available. Unfortunately, this included the Scroll Lock button, which is the hotkey for switching between computers. As requested, I checked the FAQs on their websites before calling, but to no avail. Apparently he contacted a non-local call center that wanted all my information before he heard my question, which seemed odd, so I just cut him off and asked, only to unsurprisingly discover there was no hotkey combination. But I can contact the box fairly easily and the manual buttons work just fine. Since the drive does not require an external power supply, it is ideally compact. It's only for PS-2 ports, I'm not sure if it will work with a USB-only device (like my laptop) so some research or adapters may be needed. Another browser seems to be having trouble using this configuration. I have nothing bad to say about this device so I'll give it a full five stars and suggest if your KVM needs are as simple as mine then look no further.
