The first thought I had when I opened the box was "Wow, it's bigger than the pictures." This is a big speaker, definitely not flatter. The sound quality was surprisingly good at first, but after a few minutes of listening I felt it should sound better given its price point and speaker size. I used it mostly for music and some audio when editing videos. Best sound (at least for me) with default settings and volume below half. Higher volume seems to distort the sound. When I turn up the base on the soundbar, the sound seems muffled rather than deeper or richer at lower output levels. I fiddled with the treble/bass settings for a while, then hit the "reset" button on the remote and the overall sound improved immediately. (I was looking for a soundbar with a subwoofer before settling on this one that has "bass". I might prefer a separate subwoofer, but it's good enough for regular music and movies while you work. If you want good bass quality then you can choose a system with a separate subwoofer.) Set up was typical and easy. I used my computer's optical output first (not for the TV) and it had the best sound quality. But I can't quickly control the volume or playlist via optics from the keyboard (instead of finding and picking up the remote - this has nothing to do with the soundbar itself, it has to do with the computer), so I'm on Bluetooth switched. Sound quality is noticeably lower (but that's the nature of Bluetooth versus optical), but full control is at the touch of a button without interruption. It also has USB, auxiliary jacks and left/right RCA jacks. The control buttons on the side of the soundbar are the least useful feature of this product. There are no volume controls, just power, skip forward and backward, and play/pause. Also, the soundbar is black and the buttons are black with no backlight, making them difficult to see. The remote control is easier to use. Overall this is a good soundbar so far. The one that was replaced (different brand and lower quality) was also decent but stopped working after about 2 years. So I will update this review in the future if anything changes.
