Unfortunately fit means more to me now than durability (or strength). I say this because I've had a frustrating time looking for bags to fit my kitchen jar, which was advertised as 3.5 gallons but fits more like a 4 or 5. So far they have served me well in terms of strength. Sometimes they need to hold a little more than the usual table and cooking scraps - glasses of various sizes, glass jars and an assortment of other household scraps. I haven't had a single concession yet (knock on wood) and it's like a trip from my kitchen to a dumpster two floors down and out the back door.
