Worked on Dacor DMW2420S

Fixed 6 year old DMW2420S Dacor Distinctive model with circuit breaker tripped and 20A fuse blown. The problem was limited to opening the door and eventually one of 4 similar switches that triggered when the door was opened. This switch worked as a replacement and after a month it is working quite well. For Dacor MW owners: Dacor is not listed in MW, this part might fix it but it will work. Hopefully the information below will help a Dacor owner in a predicament like confronting us. When we bought our current home it had all the Dacor appliances but the built in MW needed to be replaced. I had to buy something suitable and suitable for grafting. The Ambiente finish is $450, and most other MW countertops don't match and/or don't match the aesthetic. So installing a similar Dacor was a forced decision. When it stopped working I called the local repair shops and was quickly told they would not repair the Dacor or sell parts for this model anymore. The same applies to online parts shops and Dacor support. The switch inside the Dacor is marked FD-63 with some additional numbers that this switch doesn't have (so not technically the same). The size is almost (not 100%) identical and good enough to replace the original. You'll need a set of fuses in case the first attempt or two fails (I have these https://www.amazon.com/review/create-review/?channel=glance-detail&asin=B082HZ1H47&ie=UTF8& and recommend having them with you Hand). You may have already blown a fuse or blown a fuse or two during the test (discharge the capacitor even when no power is connected, just to be safe). I also took lots of photos of the cables and connections during disassembly so I could retrace the reassembly steps. In my case, one of the dual switches on the bottom that is pressed when you press the switch to open the MW door (outside) has failed (you can easily see how the button on the top (red and for that common switch is yellow) will not pop out all the way. The main problem was the very thin plastic molding that these switches are mounted on. The plastic is very weak and broke in several places when trying to remove the defective switch and put the new one back in 1. I had to pre-weld the plastic (with a soldering iron) to glue the parts (and I had to get a soldering iron for just that ($15 at harbor or box stores and on youtube as a guide) if you can get power on the unit remove and reinstall without damage This repair is a breeze and requires only moderate craftsmanship The following extra plastic containing door screws has crack e and does not hold the steel tightly zbovy screw (more soldering iron for melting and plasticine and glue the cake ses). Assembling it was pretty easy (following colored wires, based on photos I took).
