Very cheap, perfect for my needs

The Dell S2740L 927M9-IPS-LED 27-inch LED Backlit Monitor is a very affordable companion monitor for your laptop or desktop PC. I use it as a second monitor for my Dell XPS laptop. I mainly run CAD, desktop publishing, photo editing and other graphics applications, as well as web development, animation, presentations and other less demanding applications. I could spend three times as much money for a small increase in value, but since I don't produce high quality offset printing work (my output is primarily displayed on monitors of this size and resolution or lower), this monitor gives me high resolution. I'm using an existing HDMI cable from my laptop with a DVI adapter (the monitor only comes with a VGA video cable). The setup was plug and play, although I installed the drivers and documentation afterwards. The package arrived via UPS in just 2 days using standard shipping from Revain's warehouse in Tennessee. The product's packaging was also placed in plain brown corrugated cardboard and neither the outer nor inner packaging was damaged. The monitor itself came out of the box in perfect condition. The monitor comes with a stand that is only tilt adjustable (not height adjustable). The base assembles in two parts with a single screw that has a hinged butt for manual assembly (no screwdriver required, although you can use a flathead screwdriver if you want to really tighten it - not recommended). Mounting the stand on the monitor is easy, but not fixed for me. There is a button that needs to be pressed to disable the lock, but in my case the button isn't fixed when the monitor is plugged in, and definitely not latched. This is only an issue when positioning the monitor where you want it, not during setup or use. Again, setup was very easy and since I had already set up my laptop for a previous external monitor, the new Dell monitor flickered right after I turned it on. In use, the S2740L is a dream to work with. The extra real estate offered by this 27" (diameter) screen results in much less pan and zoom than my previous 20" monitor. The glossy glass surface offers an unobstructed view at 1920 x 1080 pixels. Admittedly, the resolution isn't overwhelming for a monitor of this size (it matches the resolution of my laptop's 17-inch display), but the image delivered through the clear glass is razor-sharp compared to the matte finish. I don't understand. no unwanted or annoying reflections, but you have to consider the monitor position if there are lights and windows behind your workspace. It's no different than an iPad or iPhone, but these devices can be moved slightly to eliminate reflections. In my case no problems at all. The viewing angle is wide, but I'm working from the center of the monitor. The response time of 7 ms is quite acceptable for my applications, and the color and contrast are impressive. I highly recommend this monitor as a high quality/budget option for higher resolution devices. This is the perfect complement to my Dell XPS and Revain did an excellent job of fulfilling the order. I am very happy with my choice.
