I've had thermostatic ceiling fan remotes for years. In my previous home I did not need to replace the original for many years and both the original and the second worked reliably and as intended. Neither of them was Westinghouse. I ordered a Westinghouse 7787400 for my new home, believing (wrongly) that this brand was the best on the market. Unfortunately I had problems with it from the beginning. The rear battery cover never stayed in place, but I figured I could live with that. I had to send it back immediately but I already paid an electrician to install it so I thought I'd just clear it up. However, what I can't stand is the inconsistent performance. Sometimes the fan turns on for no reason even with manual settings. Or the light just comes on. It's in my bedroom so it's really devastating. I definitely didn't expect that when I bought it. I recommend you not to buy this item. There are other remotes that I have experience with and they are much better.
