I used them to cool the voltage regulator modules on my Sapphire R9 290 graphics card after installing a secondary cooling solution on the graphics chip. I've only used copper heatsinks, so I can't comment on aluminum heatsinks. Pros: They work well enough for this application - still hit 92°C at full load, but better than 100°C+ without them. "They are the perfect size for the width. / Length for this application. Cons: - They could have been a bit higher for my application (but I chose them so as not to deduct a star). - Despite cleaning the chips thoroughly with alcohol beforehand, the thermal adhesive doesn't stick very well at best and I'm a little worried they'll fall off. So far so good after a few days and 2-3 full board heating cycles. But deducted a star for that.
