Finally no oil paint 15 years used is back in. The clips aren't really enough to hold work in progress and I feel like they're more for display than work. The French easel is also a bit cheap but quite good for the price and does a great job. The size of the tubes in the kit is actually very important considering what you're getting (a set of these paints alone easily costs $70!), and you're getting a lot of good paints. This is a great starter kit that allows you to swap out the most commonly used colors one at a time and still have access to more exotic colors without spending a penny. So this is a good deal. Canvases can also be expensive and it's good to have them to start with. Note for beginners. "Canvas" paint pads absorb paint very differently than real canvas. Paper absorbs more moisture, so oil paints move a bit more like oil pastels (these pads are great for oil pastels, by the way), while oil paints on canvas lay a little more on the surface and flow more freely. I wish this set included some spatulas and at least some paint thinner, but what can you do for the price? This set is ideal for beginners or those who don't have the tools they need to start drawing. But as a gift for an artist who already has "everything", it is enough to buy real tubes of oil paint, which are expensive. The selection here is nice. They will thank you.
