Review on Dell UltraSharp U2515H 25 Inch LED Lit Monitor: Crystal Clear Display and Superior Performance by Ricardo Wilson

Great monitor for photo editing

I am a professional photographer who also pursues photography as a hobby. I was looking for a quality monitor for home photo editing that wouldn't break the budget. A cheap 23-inch Acer monitor (1920 x 1080) that I had for a few years was great for everyday use, but it had color balance issues. I found the Dell UltraSharp U2515H to be perfect for my needs. I now have a dual monitor setup: Dell alongside Acer. This helped me tweak the contrast, brightness, and color settings on the Acer monitor, but there's still a big difference between the two. The text on the Dell monitor is so crisp and clear that I wonder how I've lasted with the Acer monitor for so long. The U2515H has more realistic whites and blacker blacks. The factory color calibration is top notch. The only changes I made were a slight reduction in brightness and a slight increase in contrast. Pros: Top notch adjustable stand and overall the U2515H has a sleek design. The menu system is easy to use, although I haven't had much to do with it. I tried playing some games and running HD videos and was impressed. While not recommended for gaming, this monitor works well enough to meet my needs. Color and transparency are excellent. The screen finish is a mix of glossy and matte which works very well. I went back and edited some of my favorite photos. The difference was clearly noticeable. This monitor does exactly what I need. Cons: Some have complained about the location of the USB ports, and I have to agree that they're not easily accessible if you need them for devices you plug and unplug regularly. However, for USB devices that stay plugged in all the time, having a USB 3.0 hub on the monitor is a good feature. For example, the USB cable on my film scanner was stretched to the limit by the fact that I had to position it relative to the outlet. Being able to connect it to a monitor gives me a lot of flexibility in positioning the scanner. Perhaps because I'm used to the power button on my Acer monitor sometimes being unresponsive, the U2515H's somewhat responsive power button doesn't seem like a huge issue. However, I would like to make a better design decision. In summary, the Dell U2515H is more expensive than the monitor that the average computer user or gamer needs. However, if you're into photo editing and need crisp, accurate screen images, you can't go wrong with the U2515H. Additional Comments: After using this monitor for almost three months, I understand better why some people don't like the menu buttons. and a power button. You need a well-lit room to even see the menu buttons. Also, I had trouble turning the power button on and off. However, I think I found a solution to this problem. Keep your index finger on the back of the monitor. With the thumb of the same hand, press the power button just above the power LED. Using this technique, I was able to work around the frustration of the unresponsive power button for the most part.
