Review on SunFounder Portable Raspberry Display 13.3" with Full HD 1920X1080 Resolution and 60Hz Refresh Rate by Collin Michels

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Does NOT work with 1080i (Interlaced)

This applies to the 13.3-inch version. I tried the HDMI out on a Canon camcorder and DSLR and all the screen did was flicker on my devices, presumably due to the display refusing mode switching and resetting. I tested the DSLR output as 1080i/60Hz with a different monitor. It's unfortunate because it has a screw mount, but it's NOT a standard 1/4-20 mount. The carving is different. active (not when the device is on). It also has a slight backlight aberration (visible when black) at the edge, about 2.5cm wide. At 1080p I was playing a movie and the average current draw is 5V USB about 1A peaking at 1.25A (6.25W). I couldn't measure the 12V draw directly, but the 120V meter, like I said, the included 120V to 12V adapter, drew 0.1A (12W), which at 12 V up to 1A works. It seems that only a pair of the resolutions "initially" match the OSD information, and the rest are scaled to match it. I tried this on a Macbook Air with a DP to HDMI adapter and was able to get the following resolutions checked by the OSD. scaled and displayed at one of the above resolutions (1080p in this example). There may be more as I haven't done extensive testing. I uploaded the EDID using SwitchResX, which notes in the CEA extensions section that it supports 1080i at 50 and 60 and has a sync block for 1920 x 540 @ 60 Hz interlaced (odd). Given my concerns, I'm not sure how accurate that is, and the video lag is also said to be 48ms. When the resolution needs to be scaled it creates a very purple letterbox effect. be part of Lenovo. Input switching just "happens" and doesn't "stick". If the second input is empty, sleeping, or out of range, it will flicker and then switch back to any "good" input. In general the quality is good. It's very easy.
