We’ve used window film in previous homes. Installing HIDBEA wasn’t easy, but it got easier. I doubt it could get truly easy unless done repeatedly and often. One big difference is that now there’s lots of DIY material on the internet. I highly recommend watching a few videos. Also, start small. Save the big window(s) until you’ve a little practice. The tools HIDBEA recommends are: a spray bottle, tape measure, squeegee, cleaning cloths and a knife. I used DH’s utility knife and replaced the blade twice. Sharp is important. Also, I marked my cuts with a sharpie. A yardstick came in handy to draw and cut alongside. HIDBEA film seems to work much better than the last we installed a decade ago. It is definitely better at reflecting and blocking anyone outside from looking inside. The difference in the amount of sun coming in is very noticeable. I no longer have to cover my couch to keep it from fading. The way the film performs is based on the light source. In daylight, it obscures outsiders from looking in. When the sun sets, people outside can look in if the curtains are not drawn. Another plus is that it is reversible if needed or wanted. The film doesn’t have or use glue to stick to windows, just water and the properties of static electricity. All in all, I consider this a five star product for doing that which it promises very well.It’s important to note that the film’s one way action is dependent on light. In the bright of day, I can look out from the inside but cannot see in from the outside.This film has a mirror look on the outside and is tinted in the inside. Last but not least, it stays in place through static adhesion so removal is a breeze.
