Review on πŸ”† Sengled Daylight Required Equivalent Assistant by Jason Childs

NOT easy to install. Look out for BLUETOOTH and WiFi connectivity

I don't understand why they have such a high rating. Many users are right that these lights are EXTREMELY difficult to activate. I'd avoid those WiFi connection lights and stick with Bluetooth, and here's why: When I bought my first two Echo points, they came with Sengled lights, which I don't recall having any activation issues. Fast forward over a year later and in my new home I wanted more Alexa controlled lightbulbs. I saw them and thought they were the same as the ones I already had. NOT CORRECT! My god, that was such a hassle! Initially they are not recognized by the Alexa app so I had to sign up for a Sengled account but even THAT account didn't recognize the bulb. I can't even remember the exact sequence that allowed me to activate the first lightbulb, but I ended up using the Alexa app which eventually connected to the Sengled app and activated the 1st lightbulb. Cool! So I tried to reproduce this process for the second lightbulb but without the dice! Unlike the first bulb, the SECOND bulb led me to connect my Wi-Fi to some sort of Sengled WiFi account, but then it still wouldn't connect. I kept logging in and out of the Sengled and Alexa apps, turning the lightbulb off and on, and I still can't remember EXACTLY what steps made it possible to connect the second lightbulb. Unfortunately I still have to activate TWO lightbulbs. While I'm no expert, I'm no newbie to technology either. So I wouldn't recommend it to anyone who isn't very tech savvy. Based on my experience with my first two bulbs versus these new bulbs, I would suggest buying the BLUETOOTH version instead of the Wifi version. These bulbs connect and work, although I haven't used them normally yet. And I don't know if the fact that it's WiFi affects WiFi connectivity to other devices in my house. It could be one of those things that requires a hub. Again, based on this experience, stick with BLUETOOTH bulbs.

Pros
  • Remote Control: Enhance your smart home with WiFi bulbs that can be remotely controlled from anywhere. Set timers and lighting schedules, automate smart lights to make it seem like someone's home even when you're not. You can also create a group for all your Alexa bulbs and easily group smart bulbs with Alexa devices or Google Assistant players.
Cons
  • High price
