He does what he has to do. I checked with an unlit propane lamp, it blew loudly. There seems to be some confusion about installing these gas detectors. 1. If using natural gas, it must be installed near the ceiling because natural gas is lighter than air and rises to the ceiling.2. If using propane (LPG) it must be connected to the ground as propane is heavier than air and will settle to the ground. A carbon monoxide (CO) sensor can be placed anywhere as CO is about the same weight as air and therefore mixes with air.
