Review on Rechargeable Shock Collar for Small Dogs & Cats: Effective Remote Training Collar with Waterproof Design and 1000Ft Range by Heather Richardson

Revainrating 5 out of 5

It's definitely a shock collar, though.

We bought this for a cat we adopted about 8 months ago. She's the cutest in the world and built like a tank (about 25 pounds; we think she's half Maine Coon) but she will literally start screaming when we're not in the room with her. She will snuggle with us when we go to bed, but between 2am and 5am she will leave the bedroom, walk around the corner and spend the next few hours just crying. We've tried just about everything from pheromones, putting her in a room with a closed door, putting her in our room with a closed door, anti-anxiety meds, exhausting her with games - nothing has worked. It was a last resort, and of course it is. "Work", but not in the way we thought. If she starts screaming at night we give her a warning vibration (which never worked but confused her for the first few nights) and lately I've put her on the shock option to see if anything has changed . . Short answer: no. We made sure it worked by testing it on our hand and it's definitely shocking, but she's just not impressed with it. TL; DR - the collars work and they are fantastic in terms of proximity and battery life but if there is a cat that has seen some things in their life it is probably best not to go down that route because they are probably just thinking that it's a flea.

Pros
  • Easy setup
Cons
  • There are other interesting options.
