Works best for security and surveillance

Update: No longer recommend these. I used to love them until I realized that if you have even a cloudy day, the sensors won't work that night! I'm in Florida where it's light most of the time and these things are totally unreliable for a couple of weeks. Unfortunately, I like the idea of the sensors. Old Review: It took me a while to figure out how to set it up. Let me save you a lot of time: 1.) If you plan to use more than one receiver, place all of the sensors in your house next to the receivers. Reset all recipients. Adhesive strip on the side of each sensor indicating its number (1,2,3 etc.). Make sure the sound matches the first sensor. It is not possible to change the sound of a sensor after adding the next sensor. Connect all sensors to receivers and make sure the tones match your needs. 2.) Move them outside. Keep a copy of the instructions with you when installing the transducer outdoors. There are many ways to turn the device on and off, and it's easy to forget the necessary keystrokes. Carry a portable power supply with the receiver attached when going outdoors. Trust me, this is the only way to set up sensors properly if you want to control exactly where in an area they are being detected. Also keep in mind that the first detection does not occur within 30 seconds of turning on the sensor. After that, it can fire continuously if it detects anything. But sometimes it will pause and not fire again for 30 seconds to a minute or more. There may also be a few seconds delay before a detection signal is sent. I had to learn all this from my own bitter experience, since it is not in the instructions. 3.) The width of the detection path is only 15 degrees (according to the support service). If you want them to be a foot or a few feet off the ground (like in my picture) they still work great. In this situation, the baseline of the flat bottom of the sensor should point slightly up. Wind. Plants moving in the wind can trigger the sensors, but it seems to require a lot of movement. Multiple foot movement in my observation. So if you point out a plant that can move that much, it will cause a lot of false alarms in strong winds. It can be inevitable.

Pros
  • Fully upgradeable system and guaranteed 2 year warranty. The device contains two solar motion sensors and a plug-in receiver. Expandable to 4 sensors and unlimited receivers for complete coverage of your property. 4 volume levels and 35 additional melodies. Assign different ringtones to different sensors on your property to differentiate where motion is detected (e.g. front door ringtone is "Ding Dong" and backyard ringtone is "Jingle Bells").
Cons
  • Skimpy Instructions
