While frustrated by my Mac Mini's speed, I found a YouTube video about upgrading memory. I looked at the specs on my mini (mid 2010), ordered the maximum memory capacity (8GB), waited a week for delivery and returned within 5 minutes of unplugging the device (remove back panel, remove/insert two memory modules, reinstall ) I had 8g RAM instead of 2g. The Mini started right away with no fuss or fuss, and the speed is back to where it was when the unit was new. This DIY is not easy.
