Use this cable to switch from HDMI on a new laptop to DVI on an old monitor. Worked fine at 1600x900 for a couple of weeks but suddenly the monitor got wavy (I only use it about 4 hours a week). I've tried different resolutions and frequency settings, wiggling the cable, unplugging and replacing it, etc. The cable is found alongside an extension cord, a DC power supply, data acquisition equipment, and some prototyping circuits. The monitor settings menu works fine, so it's either the laptop's video output, or the cable, or the monitor's video components. Replacing with an old VGA cable will work, but is not preferred as it cannot be screwed in and will fall out. According to another reviewer's comment, I'll try a different cable with better shielding.
