This is a great filter and I won't go into details like so many others here. What I really want to write is how to open this thing when it's time to change the filter. I saw in reviews that many others had problems with it. Here's what finally worked for me: 1. Unscrew the spout and the white line on either side of the base, they'll just get in the way and you won't be able to drain the water from it.2. Drain the water from the case. The water only flows in one direction, so if nothing comes out, turn it 180 degrees.3. Insert a screwdriver into the deeper of the two holes in the base.4. Place the tool that came with the filter against the body, ideally at a 90 degree angle to the screwdriver.5. Squeeze two handles together. Make sure you loosen, not tighten. I had to sit on the edge of the tub and push the two levers together with my feet, but that gave way pretty easily. I'm convinced that this is not easy to do with your hands and without a screwdriver. Hope this helps someone!
