APEX Countertop Drinking Water Filter Review

Failed water test with my TDS EZ tool. My tap water was 300 ppm (ppm) and the water filtered through this filter was 357 ppm, which is worse than my tap water. The water in my fridge filter was 234 ppm. The filtered drinking water in the Walmart machine contained 10 parts per million. Acceptable drinking water should be 100 and below to show where this filter is located.

This was a great water filtration system until after about 3 months I noticed that drinking water gave me a stomach ache. If you examined the device closely, you could see algae forming inside. I immediately took pictures and contacted APEX immediately. After several calls to customer service, I sent the item to them for a refund. This is a great filter and I won't go into details like so many others here. What I really want to write is how to open this thing when it's time to change the filter. For absolute health, I try to keep my drinking water between 7.3 and 8.5, which also contains minerals. I'm starting to use an alkaline APEX filter which adds minerals to the water and makes the water between pH 7.3 and 8.5 drinkable. I've found traditional filters get the job done, however they filter everything including the beneficial minerals and alkalinity your body needs. I did a lot of research on Amazon before purchasing this filter and have previously used Brita filters. I hated the Brita filters, the taste, filling the jug, cleaning comprised pretty much everything about them.
