Review on Halo 5070P PAR30 Adjustable White Eyeball by Bradley Wacks

Revainrating 5 out of 5

Excellent finish, compatible housing and bulbs listed below

This is an attractive and well made finish for 5" downlights. I installed 4 of them. Two on sloping ceilings and two on flat ceilings. The sloping ceiling required an eyeball finish or gimbal. I especially liked them because the "eyeball" part doesn't protrude from under the mount like some others. This meant I could use the same finish on both the sloped and flat parts of the ceiling so they didn't look out of place or wobbly with the ones on the flat part sticking out too much. Please note that this finish requires a "short" PAR30 bulb. You must also modify the jig to customize it. Detach the socket from the bracket/housing and remove the metal plate it was attached to. The socket then snaps into place at the top of the eyeball rim. It only takes a minute, but it's worth knowing if you've never used an eyeball lift (there weren't any instructions, but it's easy enough to figure out). I used these bulbs, the silver-nickel finish of the bulb goes well with this finish: Dimmable LED - 18.5W - PAR30 - Short Neck - 120W Equal - 3200 Candlepower - 36 degrees. Flood - 3000K Halogen White - Soraa 00849 With limited 5” finish options at major retailers, Revain went looking for a solution. I found these fins and the matching housing. I liked that the finish and body were specifically listed as compatible. I suspect many trim and body parts are interchangeable, but it was nice not having to worry about returning incompatible parts. There was a loft above the ceiling where I installed them, so I needed an IC (insulated contact) and an AT (sealed contact). ) fixtures. The fittings were quite frustrating to install, but they worked. You can read my review about it to understand the problem. The lights are here: Halo H5RICAT, 5" IC Air-Tite Remodel, 120v mains.
