Review on πŸšͺ Safety 1st Adjustable Pressure-Mounted Walk-Through Gate: Ultimate Security and Convenience! by Bobby Plymell

Easy installation; not wall mounted

I personally like this awning for the purpose I had in mind: to keep two Shih Tzus out of the living room. It is made of 90% metal and 10% injection molded plastic/resin. I think if this gate is used by one person and patiently, slowly and without breaking the latch it should work. Since it's a spring-loaded plastic locking mechanism, a family of 4 or 5, and a lot of through movement, I can see the mechanism is likely to fail quickly. I'll come back and do an update if the gate doesn't work. There is a registration card for these gates to register your product. I would NOT place it at the top of the stairs as the wall pieces are smooth and not rubberized and will not snag. A pressure of over 15 pounds or so will cause this gate to move. A toddler, average dog, or someone trying to get through and losing their balance is definitely in danger of knocking the gate out of place and falling down the stairs. If the gate can be placed at the bottom of the stairs, away from the stairs but blocking access, that would be the best place. Another option is to search online for other fixings that will firmly attach the gate to the wall such as B. long screws or drywall fasteners. The locking must work in two steps. 1. Press the spring-loaded button. 2. Depress the spring-loaded button. Springs are difficult to work with for arthritic thumbs. There are screws on one side of the latch that allow the mechanism to be accessed and replaced. I love this feature. The gate can be opened in two directions, but the small stops on the bottom of the gate can be folded down so that the gate can only be accessed from one side. This is a nice feature of a ladder if you secure it properly. It's also good if you have small dogs that want to walk through. Opening them up to them makes them less likely to break through. As "strong" these gates are, they are as strong as they are handled. If a 100 pound dog jumps on him day after day, he won't last long. If 5 people walk through it 25 times EVERY day, it won't take long. However, for the price and material (no wood, no solid metal, not professionally installed), it's more durable than I expected. The poles are larger than I expected and they are welded to the metal frame of the gate. Many gates have loose bars and many have plastic on one side of the gate. This gate replaced a piece of unpainted old plywood. After a year of wandering back and forth, I decided it was better this way. The plywood protected the molding from the puppy during teething, leaving it scratched in the kitchen to no avail. These gates hold them tight and make access to each room easier. In total it took me 20 minutes to unpack the crate, put the plywood in the garage, reattach the 4 hold downs, got all 4 hold downs to work to square the gate frame, and then remove the crate and two extra bars . and plastic extensions for a larger door frame. My door frame is only 29 inches wide because it's an old ranch style house. I didn't have to read the installation guide for this gate - it's easy. Please watch the video (not professional but straight forward) if you want to take a closer look.
