I used this set plus extra wire to fence 5 acres. It took a little effort, but it was worth it. I buried some of them but used fence braces to secure them to the ground. After several months of grass growth, it "merged" with the soil and grass. I can hardly find it now. With 2,000 feet of cable, I had to make sure it was running at maximum power. The power source is in an unheated shed. It worked perfectly even in Minnesota's very cold temperatures. It bothered me, but everything worked great. The only con was that our large golden retriever somehow removed the original collar and chewed the recipient into oblivion. We bought a new receiver ($100) and took steps to strengthen the collar. The collar worked great and now our dog knows where the limits are. We don't use the collar all the time. Only when he needs a reminder.
