Review on BELLA Linea Collection 2-Slice Toaster: Extra Wide Slot & Custom Settings in Polished Stainless Steel by Carrie Millemann

This is a toaster. It's supposed to toast bread, but it doesn't perform its primary function. When first switched on (without bread), the heating elements emitted a burning and smoke smell. We thought it was because it was new. When the smoke stopped we tried toasting 2 slices of bread and you can see the results in the photos. One side of the same slot will be fried more than the other. You can also see that the heating elements are bright red on one side and barely glow on the other (see image). Finally we returned to our 8 year old toaster which is showing its age so we could have breakfast. .Tonight we decided to give the Bella Toaster another try and it couldn't resist when we tried loading bread into it. If we hold down the lever, then the toaster heats up, but that's exactly what our old toaster did! Also in one of the reviews someone pointed out that in the middle of each slot there is a gap where there are no heating elements. Why make a toaster with a long slot that can't toast the entire length of the slot? Make a four slot toaster instead! But that means you can't evenly toast a piece of bread longer than an average square loaf! The beauty of this toaster is definitely not deep. It's all show! Should have read more negative reviews.
