Have converted 36 fixtures so far, including removing ballast. Energy demand has been cut in half. We like the 5,000K color as it really brightens up the work area without looking 'blue'. Tubes are well packaged and have found no shipping or handling damage. Conversion is easy, but then I'm an electrician. However, the home handy-person with basic skills should not have a problem. This type (double-end power) does not require changing existing sockets. For maximum energy savings, remove the ballast and wire direct. Works well with motion detectors and unlike fluorescents, does not require minimum on-time between cycles to maintain lamp life. Also unlike fluorescents, there is no 'warm-up' when lighting under cold conditions.
