As other have mentioned, this is not really waterproof. But if you need to add some extra switches and don't want to cut up your dash. This is a good way to do it. The switches themselves work really well. They have a nice positive feel when switched. They come with a couple sheets of stickers so you can label them. Could you have a short circuit because there are no grommets in the back? Sure. But, The holes are small enough to not allow much movement of the wires, yet not so small they pinch the wires. Unless your wires are constantly moving, like attached to something that moves, or you don't ever tie your wires up and support them properly, you shouldn't have a problem.
