Review on Topmart High Density Foam Dog Steps 4 Tiers – Extra Wide Deep Pet Stairs for Older Dogs, Injured Pets, and Cats with Joint Pain – Non-Slip Dog Ramp for Bed – Soft Foam Dog Ladder in Brown Color by Anita Davis

Good for older or disabled dogs

We have a 10 year old Papillon who had back surgery a few months ago. He lost the ability to jump confidently, so we wanted to build him a ramp so he can stand on a sofa or bed. Since a straight ramp would have been too steep, we decided to take the stairs. We tried another type, hard/carpet steps, slightly sloped down, but it didn't work. He always slipped a little and preferred not to use them. These ladders provide him with a soft yet durable platform. And the front edges, which are tapered rather than sharp, seem to make it easier for him to climb stairs. He has been using them for a while, understood all the warnings and has no problem using them. They're a bit more expensive than what you get, but what can you do. Pets are family. So keep a few things in mind. The stitching of the cover is good, but it can move a little at the bottom edge of each tier. Noticing this, we'll tuck the fabric under each step, but that won't stop our dog from using it. Probably a bit finicky and can be fixed with a piece of twine or rope. Being a memory foam, the foam also flexes a bit when our dog climbs the stairs. I mean if she walks up the stairs and pushes off with her back legs, the foam absorbs some of the force when the dog pushes off. Unlike rigid, durable conductors that offer absolute resistance. So our dog had to learn to push a little harder than usual. Nothing special, just something he had to learn and learned quickly. We liked them so much we bought a three tier sofa.
