Review on Proline Power Inlet Marine Weatherproof by Dwight Tim

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Works but takes more time and money + retrofitting

Product works. But it requires a 2 7/8 hole saw to mount it on the side of the car. Unfortunately, places like Home Depot or Loews don't sell crowns this size. Butt size on both sides of it. 2 3/4 and 3 inches. Not 2 7/8. I spent time finding it locally. I ended up ordering a Milwaukee 2 7/8 bi-metal saw. And I'm glad I had a different size adapter stem so I didn't have to buy that one either. But I had to order it from Revain and wait for this delay. Not very happy with the quality/durability of the plastic ears where there are screw holes. Seems to be a simple point of failure. I was afraid that the plastic tabs where the 4 mounting screws go would eventually break from flexing when attaching/detaching the twistlock extension or from stress. Also the fact that plastic gets brittle pretty quickly in the sun. So I made a metal plate that attached to the inside of the car skin. Then instead of the 4 self-tapping screws supplied. I used nylon studs, washers and locknuts to secure the receiver and baseplate by clamping the car's skin between the receiver and baseplate.

Pros
  • All weather cover protects against bad weather when not in use
Cons
  • Crumpled packaging
