Well, over the years I have had many Irwin tools. And for the most part, they worked very well. However, I recently bought a pair of Irwin welding guns. To say I'm shocked and dismayed by the sloppiness and lack of quality is an understatement. These pliers are a joke. It looks like they just came out of the forge and have never been cleaned. The ends of the jaws of the pliers don't actually touch - a gap is visible between the jaws. The jaws are rough and have burrs on the metal. The gripping ribs on the tips of the pliers are very rough on the outside, do not align and are partially smoothed. The black finish at the end is chipped and of poor quality. The surface of the pliers where they were sanded and "polished" (and I use the term loosely) is rough and pitted, and the clear coat applied leaves marks. Overall I am very disappointed with these pliers and definitely not the quality I expected. I understand that they are intended for welding and will be subject to some abuse, but seriously, they were in poor condition to begin with. I think they're coming back.
