The finishes on these items are below average, even the fakes have better finishes. The edges are serrated and sharp, there are no metal nicks, and the grip nose has hardened drops of a black coating that prevent it from closing. Once cleaned they don't serve their purpose and for the price you can't go wrong. , but I don't need to use tools on my tool just to make something work as intended.

Pros
  • Great for a small home
Cons
  • Good but not perfect

Mostly good, solid value - but update.

I gave Irvine a star because the spring was so long the jaws didn't close fully. I shortened the spring a bit (small problem) and they are fine now. Only they seem to be heavier than necessary for the operation of the MIG. Still good, durable, easy to use pliers - I expect them to last a long time. UPDATE: I've switched to .025 wire, which these pliers don't reliably cut. Dies just can't cut it.

Revane sent me a used pair of pliers.

These are great pliers, I have used them before. I've been a welder for 25 years and they do the job. My bad overall rating is on Amazon and not on these pliers. I paid for a new unused pair of pliers. they were not in the package, although the packaging of the pliers and pliers was in the transport packaging, the packaging was destroyed and the pliers were not attached to the package. the pliers had clear signs of wear due to dirt in the grooves, the grease on the needle tip on the handles and

Good but mediocre quality hand tools

Disappointing quality for the price. The torch has a tiny nick/nick defect right on the hinge where the wire would normally fall. So to cut thin wire you need to place it in the dead center of the torch. Also, the nose isn't quite square. While this doesn't significantly affect functionality, it does give an indication of the quality of their manufacturing processes and quality control, or rather what Irwin considers to be 'good' quality tools. I haven't had a single problem with the cheap…

Pros
  • GOLS certified
Cons
  • Vanishing

These welders are not very well made. The handling is weak and they don't close properly. I was hoping they would be better than my old MIG port loading tongs but no. My biggest concern is that they won't close completely, even when pushed hard. He can cut the MIG wire if you grab him with a gorilla. Even with as tight a grip as I could muster, the tips don't touch. The second picture shows the normal pressure that must be applied to cut MIG wire, even stainless MIG wire. For goodness sake I…

Absolutely terrible quality! For the price I expected a lot more!

Well, over the years I have had many Irwin tools. And for the most part, they worked very well. However, I recently bought a pair of Irwin welding guns. To say I'm shocked and dismayed by the sloppiness and lack of quality is an understatement. These pliers are a joke. It looks like they just came out of the forge and have never been cleaned. The ends of the jaws of the pliers don't actually touch - a gap is visible between the jaws. The jaws are rough and have burrs on the metal. The gripping…
