Review on πŸ”΅ Enhance Performance with UniveraL Billet Aluminum Racing Square Style Oil Catch Reservoir Breather Tank - Blue Can by Gervan Mauldin

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Inexpensive catch can that can be converted into a real can with little effort.

The best thing about this trap is that it can be disassembled and rebuilt. If you tried to use it as is, it would be a disappointment. At the very least, it needs to be disassembled, cleaned and properly sealed. The clear plastic tube that comes with the kit is useless. It's too short to use, it stinks to high heaven, and while I don't use it, I seriously doubt it will survive under the hood. It is important to note that there are no partitions within this trap. The fittings go straight into the open chamber. The thread pitch on the fittings is not 3/8 NPT. I don't have a sensor, but I suspect it's a bsp. The bottom drain hole (small silver plug) is too high to effectively drain all the oil. So plan to add a drain to the bottom plate to completely drain the water from the can. The plates at the top and bottom are thick enough to (barely) tap on them, but be careful and do it slowly when tapping on them. The fact that it can be disassembled and modified makes it perfect for those looking to add their own filters and baffles. The price is also right, so the conversion effort is worth it. Basically, for the cost of this catch jar plus an additional $15, you can make a real catch jar like the one that sells for more than $100. This assumes you have a drill/mill, taps and other tools.
