Review on πŸ“¦ Tuf-Tite 6 Hole Drain Distribution Box: Lid & Seals Included - Efficient Drainage Solution by John Mahfood

Good idea. Need better technique to be hermetic.

Great idea. Simply place the gasket in the box, insert the tube, use the aligners to fine-tune, and the job is done. However, the development of this design is poor and obviously not really user tested. The seals are not rigid enough so that any vertical load on the pipe (as is almost guaranteed in trench backfill and setting) will leak between the pipe and seal. I tried Magic Lube. for pool liners, but that didn't work. I tried unscrewing the seal valve but it didn't work. I tried squeezing the SDR35 to squeeze the yellow spacer tighter (making the pipe essentially the same OD as the 40 gauge pipe). It really helped reduce free flow through the seal to a drop. That's really not enough. I ended up having to use silicone sealant to seal the exhaust ports. It is also very important that the expansion tanks have a good seal on the ID of the pipe, otherwise they will simply fall into the bottom pipe at low flow. These shims do not fit well on the inside diameter of the pipe. I had to adjust the levels, mark their position, remove and reinstall with silicone sealant, unfortunately this makes further adjustments difficult. Plumber's Mate is another alternative. In general, the manufacturer must renew the gaskets and repair the equalizer gasket. There's nothing wrong with them being reliable and tight, ie serving the purpose without custom hacks. I would recommend this system but I expect it will take a lot of fiddling to seal it.

Pros

Cons
  • Periodicity
