Review on Trudeau Pop-up Lid Salt or Pepper Shaker - 1 Shaker (Color May Vary) by Joseph Meola

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Well-made, tight-fitting lids, but tiny holes make for disappointment.

I have a pair of these shakers because my cats like to knock over anything that can roll and my last salt and pepper didn't have a lid or locking mechanism which resulted in me banging it in a few times in the morning to remove salt or pepper from the kitchen floor. These shakers have a glass body with a decently heavy plastic lid, and the hinged dome at least feels like silicone and is decently heavy for its weight. I put them in the dishwasher before use and they showed no signs of damage. My cats have knocked them over several times since buying them, not only to make sure they survive the fall unscathed, but to make sure there are no signs of cat damage. Claws and a hinged lid kept everything inside! I'm very glad I don't have to worry that if I forget and leave my salt and pepper behind, I will find disaster. (Sorry for the pun, I couldn't resist.) My biggest complaint is that the holes that the salt and pepper go through are pretty small and you have to shake a little to get anything out, and I often just take that Lid off I pour a little into my hand and use the pinch and spritz method, which for most people defeats the purpose of the lid. Overall, they fit my needs and are reasonably priced, so they work for me. I subtracted tiny holes from my estimate. UPDATE: Since my original purchase, my dad did what cats couldn't, he dropped one of those shakers and broke it. I immediately bought another one as a replacement because otherwise they have held up great! I still want bigger holes but I'm used to extra shaking. I continue to recommend these excellent, easy to clean and virtually indestructible shakers.
