I was struggling with an old Category 5 cable running two stories up my walls to the computer. It worked once. I never got over 60Mbps 12 years later. I just hooked up a 100 foot cable. I took him upstairs to check. In fact, I was expecting to see low speed again. I tested it in Ookla and got 366 Mbps straight away. I'm excited. Now I take on the rather tedious project of running it in a wall. It was so nice to get a picture of the performance. I once got 100Mbps from this 12 year old cat 5. I have to wonder if this cable is subject to an aging issue. I have no idea. First I blamed my router. I bought a new wireless Netgear network and encountered the same problem. I used a 5G wireless network to run this computer. That would give me 150 Mbit. It was too far from the router in the basement. I cannot judge the physical condition of this new cable as I have no right to judge it. Again, I can't believe how quickly this cable solved my slow connection issue.
