Review on Soux Chief 653 B Arrester Systems: Advanced Water Hammer Protection by Kevin Hawkins

I purchased this unit to reduce water hammer in my sprinkler system. I just installed it so it's too early to tell how effective it will be, although the shock seems to have worn off a bit once installed. Again, time will tell. The more serious issue is that the threads on the device (hydra rester with 3/4 inch threads) were absolute crap and it took me about an hour to thread them (good file) enough for me to put the device in my system could screw. What I can see is that the fitting used to make the device was quite rough initially and the trauma worsened after it was attached to the device, it was probably handled roughly (thrown in bins, hit during packaging etc.) through the rest of the manufacturing process, causing even more damage to already rough threads. :-( Update: The device seems to work fine, but would still recommend the manufacturer to fix threading issues.
