Bought this lens for my R6. I love photographing flowers and use a Canon 100 F/2.8 (not L) macro lens. This 180 macro delivers very good colors and contrasts. I really like this rendering of the image where the flowers emerge and are isolated from the background. The R6 IBIS really helps reduce motion blur, in my hands it can offer 2.5-3.5 stops of image stabilization. I have enough to take clear photos indoors. Autofocus isn't bad if you choose the right range for scenes: macro (0.48m - 1.5m) or another (1.5m - infinity). I've attempted to capture a portrait from a range of 1.5m to infinity and it's fairly quick and accurate focusing on the R6's eyes. Compared to the non-L 100mm macro lens, both lenses are very sharp. I see no difference in the sharpness of the photos from each other. The main difference is in the saturation of the colors and the blurring of the background: 180mm gives much brighter colors and good contrast, while 100mm is a slightly monochromatic color. Flowers look much prettier in 180mm photos. Another difference is the isolation from the background: 180mm can easily separate objects from the background, and the background blur looks creamy and smooth. (This is due to the longer focal length). In summary, I absolutely love this lens for flower photography. The color and contrast are just fantastic!
