I could write a long review about this camera, but in general I will repeat a lot of things from previous reviews. But here is my conclusion after working with this camera for about a week and taking about 500-600 shots with it in different lighting conditions and environments. I've been shooting with Pentax cameras for the last 30 years, from ME Super to SF10 to K100D and my last was Kr 2 years ago. I have to say that this K3 is a definite improvement over the Kr in the following points, the 12 to 24 MP transition, the sharpness is amazing and the JPEG photos look much better than with the Kr. The layout of the buttons and controls Much more logical on the K3 in my opinion and the buttons on the camera that control the menu items are really the ones I use the most, such as the auto focus settings. The camera is a lot heavier than the Kr (especially with the battery grip), but it feels very solid and even durable. The first time I bought a strap that I really like, I had to get used to the fact that the thing was hanging upside down. Autofocus is fast and quiet, I've seen a few instances where it was difficult but overall I think AF is also an improvement over older models. I was also impressed with how quiet and smooth the shutter is and 8 fps! I don't miss all the shooting modes in Kr, it works great in P mode and I even find that I don't use the green auto mode anymore. I've set my 3-user mode (at the moment) to Continuous, 5-shot bracketing, and 3-shot bracketing. The two SD cards are set to JPEG on one and RAW on the other, which I find handy for quickly viewing JPEGs on my laptop when I'm on the go and not having to separate the files when I get home. One reviewer complained about how inconvenient it was to turn off the display while recording. But once you've turned it off with the Info button, you can simply turn it on with "Info" and turn it off again with the "Menu" for a quick setup. Overall the K3 is new but I like what I'm seeing so far! The camera definitely looks professional and may not be suitable for a beginner. Personally, I'm impressed with the design and the layout of the controls and menus! I added some photos and worked with the 18-135mm WR lens.
