I was hoping that the surface would be smooth, like a non-stick frying pan, but it is not. Therefore 4 stars instead of 5. It's a bit rough; I've learned to live with it; it does not affect performance. Otherwise it is a well constructed steel ring. I've used it a dozen times already. The non-stick surface does not flake off or anything like that. This is a beautiful solid steel ring with a non-stick finish. Application: Spray in PAM. throw an egg Break the yoke. Let it cook for a minute until you see the egg is done on all sides of the ring. This way you can remove the ring and turn the egg over. If you rear too early, the egg will leak. The top of the ring is not hot; You just bend over and pick it off with your fingers. Flip the egg, pour in the cheese, add the bacon, scoop onto an English muffin. It makes a great egg mac muffin every time. Much luck.
